Pr. Ernesto Damiani
Head - University of Milan's Ph.D. School in Computer Science (Italy)

Ernesto Damiani est professeur au département "Technologies de l'Information" à l'Université de Milan, où il pilote le laboratoire de recherches SESAR et où il est à la tête du programme de Doctorat Informatique. Il est l'invité de plusieurs instituts de recherche internationaux. Le Prof. Damiani fait partie du comité éditorial de plusieurs magazines appartenant au secteur du développement de logiciels sécurisés ; il est notamment rédacteur régional du "Journal of System Architecture" et rédacteur associé de l'"IEEE Transactions on Service-oriented Computing". Il est Vice-Président de l''IEEE Technical Committee on Industrial Informatics", Président de l'IFIP "WG 2.6 on Database Semantics" et Secrétaire Général de l'IFIP "WG 2.13 on Open Source Development".

Prof. Dr. Claudia Eckert

Prof. Dr. Claudia Eckert is the Director of the Fraunhofer Institute SIT in Darmstadt and Munich. She is also a professor at the Technische Universität München and heads the research group IT Security of the Computer Science department.

As a member of various national and international industrial advisory boards and scientific panels she advises private enterprises, trade associations and public authorities in all matters concerning IT security. The expertise she provides in a number of scientific committees helps to form the technical and scientific research programmes within Germany as well as in defining scientific programmes funded by the EU or NATO.

Keith Mayes

Keith Mayes (B.Sc. (Bath) Ph.D. (Bath) CEng FIET) received his BSc (Hons) in Electronic Engineering in 1983 from the University of Bath (, and his PhD degree in Digital Image Processing in 1987. During his first degree he was employed by Pye TVT (Philips) which designed and produced TV broadcast and studio equipment. His PhD was sponsored by Honeywell Aerospace and Defence and on completion he accepted their offer of a job. In 1988 he started work for Racal Research where he worked on a wide range of research and advanced development products and was accepted as a Chartered Engineer. In 1995 he joined Racal Messenger to continue work on a Vehicle Licence plate recognition system (Talon) and an early packet radio system (Widanet/Paknet). In 1996 Keith joined Vodafone as a Senior Manager working within the Communication Security and Advanced Development group, under Professor Michael Walker. Early work concerned advanced radio relaying systems and involved participation in international standardisation (ETSI SMG2). Later he led the Maths & Modelling team and eventually took charge of the Fraud & Security group. During this time he was training in intellectual property and licensing, culminating in membership of the Licensing Executives Society and the added responsibility for patent issues in Vodafone UK. In 2000, following some work on m-commerce and an increasing interest in Smart Cards he joined the Vodafone International organisation as the Vodafone Global SIM Card Manager, responsible for SIM card harmonisation and strategy for the Vodafone Group ( In 2002, Keith left Vodafone to set up Crisp Telecom ( and in November 2002 he was also appointed as the Director of the Smart Card Centre ( at Royal Holloway University of London (, reporting to Professor Fred Piper in the world renowned Information Security Group (  Keith is a Founder Associate Member of the Institute of Information Security Professionals and a member of the Advisory Board for the Sensing and Security Group SIG within the London Technology Network (LTN). He has also had director experience within a London stock market listed company and a subsidiary of an American communications company. Recent high profile activity included leading the expert team that carried out counter-expertise work on the Ov-Chipkaart for the Dutch transport ministry, following published attacks on the Mifare Classic chip card.

Carlo Maria Medaglia

Carlo Maria Medaglia was born in Rome, Italy in 1974, he had his degree in physics at University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy, in 1999. He has got his PhD in Remote Sensing at the Engineering faculty of University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy in 2004. Since 1999, he worked for several international research institutions such as ISAC-CNR (Institute for Atmospheric Sciences and Climate), NASA (National Atmospheric and Space Administration), ESA (European Space Agency), NOA (National Observatory of Athens) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Admospheric Administration). He also worked as visiting professor in several universities as: University of Madison-Wisconsin, University of Baltimore, and the University of Washington. He worked as consultant in the RFID/Wireless Group of the CNIPA (National Center for Informatics in the Public Administration) and he is the director of the Italian Interministerial Panel on RFId and Wireless Sensor Network He is full professor of Human Computer Interaction at Mass Communication Department of University of Rome “La Sapienza” and Coordinator of the RFID-Lab of CATTID (Centre for Television Applications and Distance Learning Techniques) of University of Rome “La Sapienza”.. His main academic research activities regard RFID, Geolocalization, satellite remote sensing and mobile/wireless communication. He has more than 80 contributions in peer-reviewed journal and conference proceedings.
He acted as expert and as reviewer for the RFID technology in the FP7 program evaluation process (He worked for the unit of Gerard Santucci and Andreas Lymberis).

He was also invited speaker and/or member of the scientific committee in several national and international conferences and workshops (e.g RFID: Towards the Internet of Things, June 2007, Berlin; RFID: The next step to the internet of things, November 2007, Lisbon) and is currently responsible of the organisation and chair of the “Building the Internet of Things” workshop. He is also member of the advisory board of the NFC Academy, ID World and Trasportation Forum.
Pierre Paradinas

Pierre Paradinas est Directeur du Développement Technologique à l'INRIA.
Pierre Paradinas est Professeur au CNAM (Paris) où il est titulaire de la chaire “systèmes enfouis et embarqués”.
Il a été représentant Gemplus au W3C, ISO/AFNOR, Open Card Framework et Java Community Process. Il a été le co-rédacteur de la partie 7 de l'ISO7816 et Directeur du projet européen Cascade où le premier micro-processeur 32-Risc avec Java Card a été conçu.
Il possède 20 ans d'expérience dans les technologies de la carte à puce et est fortement impliqué dans la technologie et la recherche autour des cartes, en tant que membre du comité de programme (Chaire CARDIS'04) et expert pour la Commision Européenne et le gouvernement français.

Pr. George Spanoudakis
Director of Software Engineering Group - City University of London (UK)
Professor George Spanoudakis holds a Chair in Computing at the School of Informatics of City University London and is the director of the Software Engineering Group within the School. A graduate of the Athens School of Economics and Business Science with a BSc in Informatics and Statistics (1988), he also holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence (Queen Mary College, University of London, 1988) and a PhD in Computer Science (University of Crete, 1994). Along his career he has held visiting positions at the Universities of Crete, Essen, Malaga and the London School of Economics.

His research interests are in the broad area of software engineering with a recent focus on service oriented computing, system verification, and security and dependability of distributed systems.  His research has been informed by a wide spectrum of interactions with the industry funded by European, national and direct industry R&D projects. The total funding of his research exceeds 4 million Euro, and his portfolio of grants includes the EU funded projects SECSE (2004–2008), GREDIA (2006–2009), SLA@SOI (2008–2011) and S–CUBE (2008–2012) in the area of service centric software systems engineering, and the EU-funded projects SERENITY (2006–2009) and PEPERS (2006–2009) in the area of software systems security. Professor  Spanoudakis has more than 100 peer reviewed publications and has been in the committees of more than 70 international conferences and workshops. He has also chaired international conferences (SEKE '06 and '07) and been member of the editorial boards of international journals (e.g. Int. J. of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering and Int. J. of Distributed Systems & Technologies).
